Swan Lake, Montana
August 20-23, 2010
After Idaho, we drove straight through to dusk to get to Swan Lake Campground where our friends, Kathy and Robin, were waiting for us. They'd reserved a perfect, private, spacious site in the state park campground across from the lake.
Our first day there, we did a lot of lounging around, and drove to a nearby RV camp for showers. It was hot, and we spent the afternoon hanging out in the shade at the lake beach.
The second day, we drove 30 miles south to hike around Holland Lake up to an impressive waterfall, and discovered a wonderful old lodge, where we had a drink and shared the most delicious piece of chocolate cake.
Our last (third) night, it started raining just as we were getting ready to turn in. It was the only rain of the trip, and it stopped by morning. Our teardrop prooved watertigh, but breaking camp was a bit slow, trying to dry out canopies, tents, and tarps before packing up. Then we were off to Glacier National Park!
