Red Canyon, Utah
September 22, 2008
On the road to Bryce Canyon is an area of the Dixie National Forest called Red Canyon. The color of the cliff formations, especially against a brilliant blue sky, is hard to believe. We stopped to oggle and take it in, then pulled over in a nearbycampground for a lunch break.
It made for a very impressive entryway to Bryce Canyon.
Unlike Bryce, Red Canyon was refreshingly empty of tourists. If we hadn't been so worn out from Zion, or so pressed to see Bryce, it would have been a great place to do some hiking, especially since dogs are allowed.
